Tournament Opportunity - Canadian Public Forum Invitationals

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

UPDATE: Unfortunately, our team has made the difficult decision to postpone the tournament due to unforeseen health problems of those on our team. We want to run the tournament as best as we could, and it would not be in our capability to do so. We have contacted all those who have already signed up and we will be offering full refunds. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Regards,

The Canadian PF Invitationals Team + EP

We would like to invite you to the first annual Canadian Public Forum Invitationals, which Equal Proposition is proud to sponsor.

This tournament is for those enrolled in Grades 4 through 12 during the 2020/21 school year. There will be 3 categories: Middle School, Novice and Open. Middle School is for debaters grade 7 and younger, Novice is for debaters in their first year of debating public forum and Open is for all debaters.

Event Information:

Dates: Friday, January 29, 2021 - Saturday, January 30, 2021

Location: Online

Registration Fee: $30 per team

There will be no team cap for entries from the same institution. Spaces will be provided by a first-come-first-serve basis until we hit our team cap or registration deadline. Any teams that register after our capacity has been filled will be contacted and put on our waiting list.

Full Disclosure: As we are sponsoring the tournament, a percentage of the funds go towards Equal Proposition and our mission of ensuring greater access for debaters of classes, races, and genders. We understand that this is unfortunately not a free tournament, though we are able to provide waivers and financial assistance upon request. We are committed to use the funds we gain from this tournament to grow EP as an initiative and provide more resources to the community.

SIGN UPS ARE VIA THE GOOGLE FORM BELOW AND NOT VIA TABROOM. The registration fee is $30 per team. All teams are required to provide 1 judge per team. If a team cannot provide a judge, an uncovered judge fee of $80 will be charged. Payments will be made via e-transfer and more information can be found in the attached invite. If you cannot pay via e-transfer or are in need of financial assistance, contact us as soon as possible.
